More art….

3 Sep

Hey, all– the blog is back, and I promise I’m going to try to maintain it.  Things are crazy here, more in my head than actually, and I’m faced again with how fast time flies.  Soon I’ll be leaving, and then, who knows.
For now, here’s a glimpse of what I’ve been doing in the meantime.  Not everything, because I can’t find it all– but, piano piano, welcome back.

The first weekend in August (I know I’ve totally skipped July; I honestly don’t remember much of what happened) Cesar played on a tiny island to the west of Tuscany.  As I had no money, I stayed behind.  But it meant that I had a weekend to myself, and did a lot of painting.  Most of them I can’t show you because they’ve sold (!), but here are a few, at least.

Mini vacation amidst the vacations….

The first weekend in August Cesar went to Capraia to play; he got home late Sunday night, and early Monday morning we got on a train to go to Rome to meet a friend of his who had stayed with us a couple of days, who plays the cavaquinho (little four stringed guitar).  There was going to be a roda– huge musical jam session, Brazilian-style– at his friend Roberto’s beach house close to Rome.  I have a whole book of these drawings which I will try to find soon; it was great fun, but after four days we were ready to come home.  Stayed at home for a day and then went with Cesar’s parents to Rimini because from there they were leaving for Croatia the next day.  Spent glorious hours on a very crowded beach, but there was a paddle boat involved, and then drove to S. Marino, which is magic.  It’s a seperate republic from Italy itself, and the historical center is perched high on a hill, complete with fortress, church, tiny winding streets, and magnificent views.  (I will try to find these sketches, too.)  We found food and a hotel well after ten, and they left the next morning for two weeks, and we wandered Rimini a while before finally heading home ourselves.  By this time we were ready to do nothing, but I got invited to cat sit for Naomi, so spent a couple of nights there with Romolo, who is sweet beyond belief, pretending I was an adult for a while.  I did these while I was there:

There is much more (I’m just now starting to realize how much I’ve left out…) but for now, you have a few new things.  I’m going to see if I can hunt down those other pictures now…

Be well, all of you!
